The Art of Dan Fionte
Inn Street's Phoenix
2012
oil on canvas
12"x16"
I may reshoot in better lighting because I had to mess with the file a bit to get it even close to the real color. Yes it's quite vibrant. This is the first of my Newburyport architectural series. It's called Inn Street's Pheonix because the taller of the two buildings in the picture (this is the back side of the buildings on Inn Street, a pedestrian causeway) is the Pheonix Marine & Fire Insurance Society building and was built by them in 1809, ironically, it burned down two years later in a fire that consumed most of downtown, but was rebuilt, true to it's name within 6 months and rededicated.
