This is the finished version of the painting I began and posted yesterday while Max was asleep. It is a winter scene at Little River Pasture behind Old Town Hill in Newbury, Massachusetts. It is a painting featuring tracks from skis, boots, and animal prints, which in packing down the snow created more dense areas compact enough to be able to survive the sunlight of the day, along with the snow shaded in the natural crevices and remnants of 19th century mosquito control trenches of the marsh, while the virgin snow melted into the marsh grass below, thus leaving a sort of organic temporary photograph.
